Environmental Policies
1. We reuse paper for our in-store notes.
2. We use 100% post-consumer paper and tree-free kenaf paper for in-store signs.
3. We buy wind energy through our utility's wind energy program.
4. We recycle.
5. We ask customers if a bag is needed rather than automatically using a bag for purchases. Our bags are cornstarch based and 100% biodegradable and compostable.
6. With small purchases customers are asked if they need a receipt, saving paper.
7. We sell products that are environmentally preferable to conventional products.
8. We reuse packaging materials as much as possible for shipping.
9. Our remodel reused building materials from salvage yards and from the building we are in. In the remodel we incorporated green building products, such as daylighting with Solatube tubular skylights, water conservation with a dual-flush toilet, AFM Safecoat paints which are made without hazardous materials. We used bamboo as a flooring material.
10. We use compact fluorescents and T-5 energy saving fluorescents throughout our store.
11. Our cooling system is a swamp cooler. |
