Eco-Body --LEED Certification of 21% recycled content - Eco-Body
Eco-Body is a glazed ceramic tile product that meets not only the technical guidelines of Presidential Order 13101and the EPA, but the spirit of the order as well. This certification letter reflects the latest information available from our factory and various governmental agencies. Recycled content can change over time because of new guidelines, operating conditions, suppliers and availability of raw materials. Eco-Body currently contains about 21% total recycled content as defined by the latest EPA Guidelines, LEED 2.2 and ISO 14021. It is a combination of pre-consumer wastes collected and recycled from Quarry Tile Co manufacturing operations and pre-consumer solid wastes from the computer industry. Prior to ISO 14021 and LEED2.2, pre-consumer wastes were called post-industrial wastes.
Eco-Body's current recycled content is a combination of 5% pre-consumer grinding paste from the computer industry and 16% pre-consumer recycled glaze waste from our waste water recycling system.
As part of Quarry Tile Co.'s total environmental program, Eco-Body also uses recycled waste water from other Quarry Tile Co. tile manufacturing processes. All of the recycled wastes are collected, weighed, mixed and processed to form a homogenous and refined powder. This powdered blend is then added to virgin clays and other additives to create our Eco-Body. All of the recycled waste products and clays are from within a 350 mile radius of our manufacturing plant in Spokane, WA. Therefore your project may earn additional LEED points for locally sourced materials if it is within the required distance.
Like all of Quarry Tile Co.'s products, Eco-Body meets or exceeds all of the requirements of ANSI 137.1 section 6.1 for Glazed Quarry Tile. It is available in 50 plus colors, 13 field tile sizes and all of the key trim shapes needed for floors and walls. Eco-Body does not carry a premium price when compared to other Quarry Tile Co. products. |
